Łebskie Merki

MERKI - to tradycyjne oznaczenie sieci kaszubskich rybaków, pochodzące od nordyckich znaków runicznych; pozwalały na rozstrzyganie sporów o własność sieci pozostawionych na morzu, będąc rodzajem podpisu. Dziedziczone często były znakami rodzin rytymi także na domach, sprzętach a nawet na płytach grobowych.
W SYSTEMIE IDENTYFIKACJI Łeby są elementem graficznym informującym o atrakcjach, usługach i samym mieście. Proponowane znaki (rząd poniżej) oznaczają od lewej: samo miasto Łebę i urząd miejski, zabytkowy kościół, nowy kościół, miejsca noclegowe, hotele, muzea, handel i gastronomię rybną, marinę, port rybacki, tawerny i karczmy, informację turystyczną, hutę szkła i pojemniki na wyrzucane szkło oraz system mobili miejskich.
INNE, NOWE MERKI mogą być tworzone na potrzeby nowych funkcji czy ich specjalizacji na podstawie już użytych oraz oryginalnych merków dawnych rodzin rybackich (takich jak przedstawione na szczycie strony i na ilustracjach na końcu).

MERKS - traditonal etched marks on fishing nets used by Kashubian fishermen (Kaszuby region - part of polish Pomeranian), origin of merks are nordic runic signs; they indicated the owner of nets left et sea. Inherited were often used as family marks etched on houses, equipment or even on graves.
IN THE IDENTIFICATION SYSTEM of Łeba they are the grafic elements that inform about attractions, services and town. Proposed signs (row below) from left: the town of Łeba and the cityhall, the old church, the new church, guest houses, hotels, muzeums, fishtrade and fish serving places, marina, fishing harbour, taverns and bars, turist information, glassworks and containers for old glass, system of city-mobiles.
OTHER, NEW MERKS may by created for new functions starting with those allready used in the identification or with original merks of old fishermen families (like those shown on top of this page or those ilustrated et the end).
